Sometimes a painting come first the ideas come later, some times the idea come first painting come later.

As I am looking in more into the notion of ‘’’rainbow”, I found that many culture have legends and myths surrounding the power of rainbow.

Instead of very happy view of rainbow , a sign of salvation or a rescue from the danger that just pass over you,

many culture believe rainbows are signs of trouble. Some culture has many different kinds of rainbow demons.

Some associate with the thunder of lighting that accompany rainbow that generating storms.

If you are the receiving end of nature disasters. You tend to have less sunny views of whatever the sign is that you are seeing.

In the case of rainbow, the natural world just got through doing something violent and you are not be the better for the episode.

RAINBOW SYMBOLIZE MANY DIFFERENT THINGS IN DIFFERENT CULTURES.

* A sign of hope & beginning.

* Exemplifies a wide spectrum of choices and acceptance as in Rainbow Coalition.

* The realization and attainment of all one’s hopes and dreams, ultimate success , fulfillment, or happiness as “ a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow “ in Irish folklore .

I prepared 6 panels for this project.

I am focusing on these two panels.

A: ”Into The Ni”—regular rainbow, red on top.

B: “Into The Hong”—Inverted rainbow.

Ni and Hong are the names to define different types of rainbow in Chinese language.

My father wrote to us siblings before he passed away.

He wrote—Do not feel sad and we can always find him when the rainbow appears . We will also meet at the rainbow bridge again one day,

I am glad that my father took a very optimistic point of view towards rainbow.

Rainbow represent an end to the storm. It represent a gateway to things better and brighter.

As he often quoted the British philosopher Bertrand Russel, ”We may never attain happiness, but, we must strive to reach it. It can never come naturally and it can never be just natural result of positive circumstance.”
